In addition to ski racer Nina Ortlieb, World Cup freerider Lorraine Huber and mountain runner Sabine Reiner, Lech Zürs Tourism is now supporting another outstanding young top athlete from the region. The icing on the cake is set: in order to score as a perfect summer destination for demanding mountain holidaymakers, all that was missing in Lech Zürs am Arlberg was a golf course. Now there is one, and since June 2016 friends of the green sport can also tee off in the renowned holiday resort - on one of the most beautiful 9-hole golf courses in the Alpine region! Against an imposing mountain backdrop at 1,500 metres above sea level, the holes of the completely flat yet highest golf course in Austria are located. One of the special challenges is to play over the Lech River, which has its source not far away.
It's so green: The 19-hectare 9-hole golf course in Lech-Zug, which is handicap effective, is the "perfect playground in the middle of nature" and offers golfers of all levels an exciting but realisable challenge with PAR 66. Concentration is nevertheless required - the enchanting Arlberg backdrop and the still young Lech, which crosses the course several times, may distract from the precise teeing off or hole-punching. The third and fourth holes are particularly exciting, where the Lech has to be played over in order to score successfully.
Wichtig war den Entwicklern des Golfplatzes, dass das reizvolle Zugertal bei Lech trotz Baumaßnahmen seine Ursprünglichkeit bewahren kann und der Eingriff in Umwelt und Landschaftsbild möglichst schonend erfolgt. Nach einer zweijährigen Bauphase wurde am 24. Juni 2016 einer der wohl schönsten Golfplätze im Alpenraum eröffnet.
Der Golfsport in Vorarlberg bekommt durch den Platz in Lech eine neue Qualität und Dimension. „Mit dem Golfplatz können wir unseren anspruchsvollen Sommergästen ein weiteres Highlight bieten. Unsere Top-Hotellerie, Spitzengastronomie und die grandiose Naturlandschaft sind zusammen mit dem Golfangebot ein touristisches „Hole-in-One“, das im Alpenraum kaum zu toppen ist“, resümiert Hermann Fercher, Tourismusdirektor von Lech Zürs am Arlberg und begeisterter Golfer.
Kooperierende Hotels in Lech bieten bis zu 25 Prozent Greenfee-Ermäßigung an.
Dem Golfplatz angeschlossen ist eine Golfschule, die Golfbegeisterten ein umfangreiches Kursangebot offeriert. Ob Golf-Einzelunterricht, Schnupper-, Platzreife- oder doch Intensivkurs - unter der Leitung von Pro Michael Coventon werden Anfänger schnell zu Fortgeschrittenen, Fortgeschrittene verbessern ihr Handicap. Mit Hilfe einer computergestützten Analyse lernen Spieler ihren Schwung zu optimieren.
Golfers who would like to take a golf tour during their holiday in the Arlberg will find eight attractive 18-hole and three additional 9-hole courses within a radius of approx. 80 kilometres. With the golf course in Lech-Zug the Vorarlberg golf offer is crowned by an absolute highlight.
